Commercial Training Academy

The Widdowson Group demands properly and professionally trained staff and this was the key catalyst in establishing its ‘Training Academy'. We now not only train and annually asses our own staff, but also offer all our training services commercially.

Predominantly concentrating on LGV & forklift training, our services include digital tachograph support and SEMA qualified racking inspections.

LGV C and C+E Test Courses
These are available to both the public and private sectors. Our DSA (Driving Standards Agency) registered instructors guide the trainee through every aspect of the course. As well as concentrating on that test day pass we are able to give advice and guidance in all aspects of road haulage and driving techniques for today’s road conditions.

If you are a newcomer to the industry our training team are also able to offer you help and advice on you initial licence application.

LGV Driving Assessments
Our qualified instructors are able to periodically assess your driving staff to ensure their driving meets your rigorous standards. Assessments are tailor made to suit and can cover everything from the drivers’ daily vehicle checks and driving styles, through to customer liaison and load security. Usually performed at your premises in the drivers own vehicle, they can also be done at the our HQ in Glenfield.

If, as a result of the assessment, the driver’s skills and ability do not meet your required standard, then refresher training programmes are also available.

LGV Refresher Course
Whether just rusty after a long period off the road or wanting to get rid of those bad habits then the Academy can tailor make a refresher course to suit you or your business.

When it comes to FLT training and assessment our fully trained and registered instructors can offer you the best in courses for either Counterbalance or Reach trucks. Our onsite training facility allows for training on a two to one basis – there are also onsite classroom facilities.

Customers usually choose to have their training and assessment performed at their own premises. This minimises the disruption to your business, allowing your employees to be trained and assessed on the equipment used in their day to day work whilst handling familiar products.
